9. Why can't I just be forgiven and go on with my life? Whether one is bound to marriage, is not a matter of sin or forgiveness. At issue is whether there was a bond of marriage established at the wedding. Though sins may damage a marriage relationship, the bond of marriage is not broken by sin. One is only free to marry if he is not bound to a previous marriage. A divorce decree is not enough to establish freedom to marry. back
